About the course
Always wanted to make your own music but no idea where to start? In this foundation course you learn FL Studio step by step, in a small group with a coach beside you. You start from zero: installing the software and making your first beat. Lesson by lesson, drums, samples, melodies, chords and basslines are added. Then you learn how to turn a loop into a full track, and pick up the basics of mixing and mastering. Every phase ends with a private lesson where your coach reviews your work. After ±4 months you present your first own track.
After this course you can
- Start a new project on your own in FL Studio and navigate every window
- Make a beat in your favourite genre, with drums that groove
- Develop an idea into a full track from start to finish
- Write a simple melody, chords and a bassline that work together
- Mix your track so everything is audible and nothing clashes
- Export your track as WAV and MP3, ready to share or play out
- Save and back up your projects properly
- Keep growing on your own, or move on to 1-on-1 production sessions
Result: your first own, finished track, which you made yourself and presented at the exam.
Extra studio time outside lessons: €15/h (normally €30/h).

- A laptop with Windows or macOS and at least 8 GB of RAM
- FL Studio: you buy the licence yourself; you can start with the free demo
- Closed-back headphones
- No musical experience or music theory needed

- 07Building a full track from a loop: intro, break, build-up, drop and outro
- 08The basics of mixing: volume and EQ
- 09Effects and automation: reverb, delay and transitions
- 10The basics of mastering and exporting your track
